About a year ago I was using Path more than Twitter and Facebook and every other social network out there. The concept of a more private and localized social network, similar to a live journal for friends and family was a great idea.
But it quickly lost its way.
With the addition of another application for private messaging to compete with Facebook, and stickers, and all this other gimmicky stuff, I completely lost interest in the application.
The team should have focused on implementing features to improve their original goals, not alter those goals with new features in order to compete with other apps. The team should have also marketed the app better, partnered with people, and pushed the idea of a social journaling application.
Path could have been much bigger, instead it turned into a toy for children. There was potential here, and there was so much that could have been expanded on like a web application, more support for other platforms, improved UI, etc. But instead we got stickers and a messaging app.
Apple could really use a social network of its own, maybe you should partner with them.
